Caves and glaciers were formed over millions of years and represent a unique natural heritage. The Apuseni Mountains Park is home to some of the most important caves in the world. 250 km separate the Apuseni Mountains Nature Park from civilization. Ghetar, in the karst area of Scarisoara is the village where the team of cavers will stay for the first part of the expedition.
